Next Stop – Stafford Springs

Authored by Monster Jam on November 11, 2022

When it comes to auto racing facilities in the Northeast, there are few that compare to the history and stature of Stafford Motor Speedway. Nestled right in the heart of the community of Stafford Springs, CT, the speedway has served generations of thrill seekers and fans. What was once a horse racing track in the 1870s has now seen horsepower rise to the 1,500 horsepower Monster Jam trucks that visit each July.

The 2016 competition is drawing near as fans are expected to fill the frontstretch stands at the ½-mile paved oval for three exciting shows. Top talent will be looking to add another achievement with a Stafford championship.

Damon Bradshaw in Monster Energy® knows the thrill of victory achieved at Stafford. Bradshaw picked up a Racing win and swept the Freestyle competition in last year’s show. His performance backed up a 2014 Stafford appearance that included a win in Racing and in Freestyle. Bradshaw comes into the event with six stadium Freestyle victories in 2016 and a respectable 24-11 in Racing.

Lee O’Donnell tasted victory in Stafford in 2012 with two Racing wins. Now behind the wheel of the VP Racing Fuels Mad ScientistTM, O’Donnell is riding a hot hand after scoring a Racing win last weekend in Hagerstown, MD. His 23-10 Racing record includes a stadium title in San Diego, CA in 2016.

While Max-DTM has been a regular visitor to Stafford, there’s a change this time around. When Max-D rolls out, it will be Neil Elliott behind the wheel. Elliott has dominated the action this year, including a stellar 47-14 record in Racing. His last outdoor appearance (Osaka, Japan) includes a clean sweep in the Donut competition.

Grave Digger® will be piloted by Randy Brown, who last came to Stafford in 2010. With Brown at the controls, Grave Digger has scored 20 wins in the Wheelie competition, 24 in Donut action and a total of 20 wins as fastest in Speed and Skill. For good measure, his Racing record is 34-8 and he leads all Monster Jam drivers with 26 Freestyle wins.

This represents just half of the field that will be in action. Complete details can be found at http://www.monsterjam.com/en-US/events/stafford-springs-ct
